In May and June the practice criterium series will be held. These criteriums present an excellent training opportunity for riders of all abilities.
General Information
The practice criteriums will take place each Tuesday at the University Research Park in May and June 2009. Sign up and registration opens at 6:00 PM and closes at 7:00PM. There are two rides, a B Race (beginners, women, cat 4/5, juniors, etc.) at 6:30 PM for about 25 minutes and an A Race (open to all riders) at 7:10 PM for about 50 minutes. All riders must fill out a release form (good for the series), show their USAC Race License (at your first day), pay the daily entry fee, sign in daily, wear their bib number, and wear an USAC legal/approved bicycle helmet. The course is wide and smooth with three 90 degree turns and slight “S” turns and some modest rises, kind of a squeezed triangle shape. One lap is approximately 0.9 miles.
Fees
All riders participating in the event will pay a daily entry fee to cover insurance charges and other fees. All additional money collected will go toward the support of bicycle racing in Dane County. The daily entry fee is $5 for USAC Licensed riders, please bring exact change. One-day USAC licenses are $5 and Annual USAC Licenses are $60; both are available on site. B Race riders that help corner guard for the A race will be refunded the $5 entry fee. A Race riders are expected to help corner guard for the B Race. Sign up for your turn at registration. We must all help out in order that the practice criteriums can be held. Without the help from everybody the practice criteriums cannot and will not be held. Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Location
The University Research Park is located on the west side of Madison, Wisconsin. From I-90/94 on the southeast side of Madison take Hwy 12/18 west (the beltline). Go past the Hwy 151/Verona road exit to the Whitney Way exit, about one mile, and exit north (right). Take Whitney Way north to Odana Road (stoplights) and turn left (west). From Odana Road go about half a mile and turn right (north) onto Research Park Dr. and follow to registration. Parking available on Research Park Dr. just before (west of) Rosa Road. Registration is at Research Park Drive and Rosa Road (northwest corner).
