Brazen Dropouts
Bike Racing Club - Madison, WI

New Member Requirements

The Brazen Dropouts racing club is always seeking committed new members. In order to join Brazen Dropouts, prospective members must do all of the following:

  1. Be 'sponsored' by any Dropout in good standing.  Personal relationships make this club special. Find a Dropout willing to stand up in support of your good character.
  2. Complete several team rides.  This is not a fitness test, but an opportunity for prospective members to get to know some Dropouts; to 'try us on' to see whether we are a good fit for their racing goals.
  3. Come to a club meeting.  Prospective members can only join at club meetings, when the majority of Dropouts will be in attendance. You can observe our anarchic/democratic process to confirm your decision to join.
  4. Get a USCF license showing "Brazen Dropouts" as your club.  We are a USCF racing club and new members must hold a valid USCF racing license showing Brazen Dropouts.
  5. Commit to fulfilling your work duties.  Brazen Dropouts is a grassroots racing club that depends on "Wheels on Willy" bike race in May and the "Bike Swap" in January to raise club funds. Members must work at both events to help the events be successful and ensure continued revenue.
  6. Adhere to our club values.  Be an active, considerate and positive representative of our club and our sponsors in all interactions with the public. Take your racing seriously, but not too seriously. Never lose your sense of humor.

Membership is open year-round, but new members are most welcome between September and January. This is the period before club clothing is ordered, and before all of the year's fundraising is completed. Anyone with questions about membership is invited to contact Paul Nilsen, the New Members Coordinator, at 231-2953.
