Cyclocross Race #1, Milwaukee, 2003

30+ Master's Men's Race (JPE's view of the race) Scott Topel, Paul Roltgen & JPE on line with about 18 total starters. At the start JPE struggles at about 2/3 of the way back in the pack. On the 1st lap and big downhill, a guy hits a chipmunk hole with his front wheel and goes head over tea kettle; right in front of me. I have to ride in the tall grass to go around him and not crash, myself. It made me laugh while it happened. I work hard to try to catch back on, but with no success. Paul and Scott worked to get up towards the front and Scott did the best out of us, placing top 5, I Think??? I came in 11th and had fun. Paul Roltgen's day was a success, as he came in 2 places ahead of me (Great friendly rivalry).

Faye got nipped at the line for 2nd in Women's A/B. Way to go Faye!!
