Cyclocross Race #3, Cam-Rock, 2003

by Faye Hartmann

A big thanks to Paul, John, and all their helpers in putting on the race yesterday. The women's A/B race had 7 people on the line and it started fast. I was not going to jump the logs even though I practiced for a few days before the race, but, I was unable to get a gap on the group with the first lap so when the logs came up I jumped them and all was great. The second time I had a nice gap and when I jumped my left breakhood loosened up. I didn't think to much of it until the 3rd time I jumped and the left hood broke off when I landed over the log throwing me over the front of the bike. Thanks to Joseph for cheering me on. I raced the rest of the race with only 1 hood and break and some very sore fingers and ribs to win the race.

The women's A/B races have been very civil and fun with women of all abilities so if anyone knows any females maybe thinking about doing cross encourage them to come out this next weekend.
