Cyclocross Race #6, 2003 -- The Diesel Takes 7th!!

2 BDs in the 30+ Race (JPE and Topel), and BD friend, Travis Goodlund. Travis plan was to compare the 30+ race to the B race and throw some Mud in my eye by beating me. I nearly crashed at the start trying to clip in, feeling like a great big dork. Course was beautiful in the crisp sunshine (a Time Trialist's dream with the long flat sections). Topel battled it out with Todd Schmidt, sprinting for 5th place. I was close behind, crawling and scratching for 7th place....I made an attack on every lap trying to ditch Bruce, he would always catch me on the flats, but I was able to hold him off on the bell lap. Travis had a bad day, not having his race legs, and wondering if the "Spinervals" tapes took too much out of him last week. My lap times looked like a Diesel Truck getting faster and faster each lap....not the plan, but I am on the road to recovery.

Faye Hartmann did great in the Women's A/B race taking 2nd place. Faye's always battling it out with women 1/2 her age....very impressive!!!

We hung around to watch the A race and saw Areondale bunny hop every barrier with ease and win by 2.5 minutes
