Teejop Community History Bike Tour

The Brazen Dropouts club will be leading a bike tour of the Teejop Community Art Project sites.
What is the Teejop Community Art Project?
From the Teejop.org site: “The Teejop Community Art Project promotes learning and awareness of the over 14,000 year human story of Teejop (Four Lakes) through public art projects in places important to Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk) people. Projects explore the past and present relationship of Hoocąk people to Teejop.”

Who is this for?
Anyone who would like to experience the sites of the project via bike! We’ll be taking a trip to all 5 sites, and we’ll be utilizing Madison’s lovely network of bike paths and bike boulevards.
Event Overview
Meet at Willy Street Cafe Domestique: 9-10am
Come early to grab a coffee and chit chat a bit before we set out!
Roll out: 10am
We will be stopping for about 20 minutes at each site. Combined with the riding between sites, we should arrive at the Capitol Square for the last exhibit by 2:00pm.
Pace/riding expectations:
This is casual ride through the city. We will average ~12 mph considering all the street crossings and stops, but we may roll at ~14mph for the longer transit sections of the route.
Bring any bike you have (that’s capable of the above speeds). Fancy road bikes are discouraged because they are probably too fast and you’ll be bored; bring your townie/mountain/gravel bike if you have one!
Street clothes and street shoes recommended over bike kit and biking shoes, given the amount of stopping.
E-bikes are welcome if you are comfortable and capable of riding in a group with them, and you can stick to the speeds the group will be riding.
The route uses bike paths and bike boulevards as much as possible. We will be obeying traffic signals and staying respectful of other path users.
